What will be covered?
Join this interactive virtual training to learn how to use the Rethinking Touring Exhibitions Toolkit to reduce the environmental impact of exhibitions and loans. You’ll discover practical strategies, explore a real-life case study, and gain confidence in making environmentally informed decisions.
The session covers all key toolkit areas, from partnerships and procurement to transport, design, and advocacy, to show you what’s within your sphere of influence and how to take action. Limited to 24 participants for maximum interaction, this training will leave you empowered to drive positive change in your organisation and the wider museum sector.
You can download the Toolkit from TEG's Environmental Responsibility Hub.
Session preparation
Pre-session task:
In advance of the training, please calculate the carbon footprint of a recent UK incoming loan to your museum, or a loan out from your museum. Please choose a single object.
If you are already registered with GCC, please use the Gallery Climate Coalition Calculator. If you are not registered with GCC but are registered with Julie’s Bicycle, please use their calculator Creative Climate Tools. If you are not registered with either GCC or Julie’s Bicycle, please use the STiCH carbon calculator.
If you have any questions about this pre-training task, or require any assistance, please contact seminars@theexhibitionsgroup.org.uk
Pre-session Introduction to the Toolkit:
Please watch this 10 minute video presentation before the session. Dana Andrew, Professional Development Manager at The Exhibitions Group, introduces the Rethinking Touring Exhibitions Toolkit and gives a brief overview of the Developing Sustainable Exhibitions and Loans workshop.
