Event description

Description

The key theme looks at how we can inspire and help the many employees who choose to stay silent about their mental fatigue to seek support.

Learning outcomes:

•Exploring what it is like to suffer in silence with a mental health issue in the workplace

•Understanding how employees learn to disguise their suffering

•Learning to become aware of when we are using language that stigmatises mental health

•Discovering ideas of how to create a culture that gets rid of the mental health stigma

•Examining evidence of how people seeking help are less likely to take time off from work

•Understanding the importance of breaking the silence!!

About the Speaker:

David Beeney has committed the rest of his working life to reducing the stigma of mental health in the workplace. He enjoyed a successful career in newspapers and magazines for over 30 years, and was General Manager of a regional daily newspaper and Commercial Director for Auto Trader. He always knew that he wanted to do something different at the latter end of his career, he just didn't know what that would be! He now feels he has found true purpose in life and wants to make a positive difference to fellow mental health sufferers. He would like to help employers gain a greater understanding of how they can best support their employees. He is a qualified Mental Health Counsellor affiliated to the BACP (British Association of Counsellors and Practitioners).
