Let us help you identify the business skills you already have to support your move from unemployment to self-employment!

About this event

Wouldn’t it be great to work and earn an income doing something you care about?

The Covid-19 pandemic has left many women out of work, or looking for more flexible working solutions. If that sounds familiar, and one of the options you're considering is self-employment then this morning workshop is just what you're looking for!

The Accelerating Women's Enterprise (AWE) Project is teaming up with HIVE Portsmouth and Barclay's Bank to deliver a morning workshop to help you discover the start-up tools you already possess from your time in employment.

Sandie Davis (HIVE) will begin by helping you explore your values and consider the direction you might take when starting up. This will be an opportunity to spend some time focusing on what really is important to you and make this part of your enterprise start up plan.

Amy Doyle (AWE) will then take you through identifying the transferable skills you already have. Changing careers can be daunting, but most of us have skills we take for granted, this is chance to pin down all the amazing things you're already capable of.

Finally, Caroline Carter (Barclays) will share how you can use planning templates to get your ideas down on paper and check their viability. Once you have an idea, there's always a temptation to doubt your ability to make it a reality. Getting it down on paper can help you see if your idea is viable and where you might need to think a bit more.

Sandie, Amy and Caroline will then share some other top tips on starting up and answer your questions.

This event is part of Portsmouth and District Business Week 2021.

The Accelerating Women's Enterprise (AWE) project is funded by the European Regional Development Fund.

The project supports women who face additional barriers to starting or growing a successful business.
