Reel Good Film Club are proud to be collaborating with REWIND FAST FORWARD.
REWIND FAST FORWARD is an archive of hundreds of hours of footage, thousands of photographs and other printed material captured by filmmaker Sandi Hughes. Spanning from 1975 to 2005 the archive looks back at Liverpool's music, club and fashion sub-culture as well as at activism by the LGBT and Black community. Also a personal archive, it explores Sandi’s own experiences of racism, homophobia and sexism through her childhood abandonment, divorce, custody battle and son’s death.
This event will be a chance to see some of the archive through a trilogy of films made by Hughes and artists Evan Ifekoya and Hayley Reid that remap, reimagine and reclaim black queer lives in the UK.
After a screening of the short films, we will be hosting a potluck lunch followed by a zine-making workshop using materials from Hughes' archive.
