About this Event

REFLECTION#2 - "House is a Feeling"

Friday May 15th 2020, 7pm till midnight.

Including free bubbly reception.

Reflection#2 - "House is a Feeling" will be launched to a V.I.P audience in one of Coventry's most iconic, large, rundown city centre spaces (venue to be announced !).

30 years ago the first legal all-night rave took place on 3rd June 1990. Amnesia House at the Sky Blue Connexion in Coventry, which was followed by 5 further events at the same venue. Then in October 1990, the worlds first dance music super club opened in Coventry, named The Eclipse. It was the first U.K club to hold a legal all-night entertainment license

And so, the legal all-night rave scene was born in Coventry, which was duplicated to become a world-wide phenomenon.

"LET'S NOT SUGAR COAT IT, DRUGS WERE INVOLVED" Michael Wilson - DJ Mag tech editor / Parks & Wilson.

Reflection#2 - "House is a Feeling" is a live immersive multi-media exhibition. Offering the audience with a chance to step into a time machine taking them back to Coventry in 1988-91. To experience and reflect on the birth of the city's dance music scene.

The exhibition will feature DJ's, audio documentaries, moving image pieces, laser displays and more, celebrating an underground movement which changed the social landscape of Coventry. Artists in-residence cafe conversations will highlight the impact of the scene on disenfranchised people from different social and cultural backgrounds. Offering audiences with an insight into the importance of this subculture and its effect on the wider community.

This is a warm-up event for U.K City of Culture 2021, when Coventry will be the centre of attention for culture. It is the second in a series of three immersive theatrical installations to be produced by Daylight Robbery.

The exhibition will also be open all day Saturday 16th May, for an Eclipse members special. More details to be released soon....

Audience are encouraged to make a donation upon entry, which will contribute towards production costs of the Reflection series. Pre production of REFLECTION#3 - "The Drugs Don't Work" has begun.....
