Presenters on the day are:

Dr Priscilla Alderson - Professor of Childhood Studies at the University College London
This session is part of the DLL Reserach Seminar Series and explores the agency of children in primary school settings. Education has the potential to empower pupils to lead self-determined lives and actively shape their learning environments. Yet, it can also reinforce hierarchies and limit children's rights. We discuss how agency is enacted and constrained within formal educational contexts, drawing on international perspectives. The session brings together conceptual reflections and empirical research, highlighting how children's agency operates in primary education in different national contexts.
This session builds on insights from an international symposium on children's participation held at the GERA Conference on Primary Education (September, Feldkirch, Austria). The session will present key findings from the GERA symposium, followed by an open discussion with the audience. Priscilla Alderson, who serves as discussant at the symposium, will offer a reflective commentary.
All presenters are members of the CHAMP group (Children’s Agency, Motivation and Power) at University College London.
