Sheriff Frank Crowe is held in high regard by all users of the court system. He was a prosecutor for 26 years before being called to the bench. He was a Sheriff for 21 years. While his main areas of speciality were criminal and extradition cases he has a wide breadth of experience in family and private law matters. Alongside his role in the judiciary, Sheriff Crowe served as Director of Judicial Studies for the Judicial Studies Committee between 2004 and 2008, was an external marker for the Diploma in Professional Legal Practice at the University of Edinburgh and has enjoyed mentoring a number of students over the last 20 years. Frank has also been involved in charity work for 40 years.
Sheriff Crowe has kindly accepted our invitation to speak to our members and guests about his legal career and current issues facing the profession.
A keen believer in restorative justice, Frank will also discuss the importance in the legal profession of independence, impartiality and candour.
