About this event

The duty to have sufficient, qualified staff to deliver First Aid is a legal requirement under the Health and Safety at Work Act, 1974 and the need to have a qualified person for Paediatric First Aid on site is a statutory duty under the Early Years Foundation Stage.

Practical assessments were initially halted during Covid-19 and lapsed qualifications were allowed to stand. However, the expectation is now for those administering First Aid to be qualified, wherever possible, which can only be following a practical assessment.

This course is appropriate for all those staff who work with younger children and babies, who have had previous First Aid knowledge or experience. This is not a First Aid qualification in order to count in ratio under the EYFS, but will provide the requisite knowledge to perform basic First Aid. It is recommended that First Aid knowledge is updated regularly.
