Life is hectic, busy and often stressful. And because of this, as a society of fast paced 'fit it all in' people, we're really struggling to find the time look after our health. There are so many things to do, people to serve, children to feed, friends to see, posts to 'like', InstaStories to share, comments to leave, dates to go on, bills to pay, meals to cook, clothes to wash, friends to catch up on, play dates to arrange, children's parties to go to, yada, yada, yada, and the list goes on and on UNTIL, oh right at the botton is, "I need/should/must lose weight or get fit". WE NEVER PRIORITISE OURSELVES!

Why?

Because even with the best intentions in the world, we simply have soooo many things to do AND making healthier choices can feel so overwhelming. It also seems like the goal posts are constantly being moved as we're bombarded by so many health related messages from the media about how 'they' got it wrong and actually saturated fat IS ok! OR 'they' got it wrong and exercise doesn't help us to lose weight after all! It all gets too confusing so we talk ourselves out of getting healthy before we've even begun. And I don't blame anyone for this. I don't think anyone ever sets out to intentionally become unhealthy.

Here's what I DO think.

I think being healthy doesn't have to be another thing on your 'to do list' and I think that we all need to look after ourselves a bit more. But not just for one day a week, or 2-3 times a week at the gym, or even for 6 weeks of the year in the run up to a holiday. To have long-term quality of life, we need to practise life long self care. Your life is your lifetime. No one knows how long that will be, so making sure you're cared for, fit and healthy should be a lifelong practise. If done slowly and with commitment to the long term, getting healthy can actually be a fun, enjoyable, and rewarding experience. You're totally worth it!

After all, if you don't look after yourself, then who will do all those things on your 'to do' list?!
