A community celebration featuring local food & drink, music and history.

About this event

We are hosting a FREE street party outside Regather on the end of Club Garden Road, with live music and a free feast!

Come and enjoy a free meal, meet your neighbours and celebrate local food, drink, music and history.

Food will be cooked by local organisations including Regather, Shipshape, Yes 2 Ventures and Foodhall, with produce grown locally on the Lansdowne Estate, as well as fresh local organic produce grown on Regather’s farm in Moss Valley, and from High Riggs Freeman Bio-dynamic Garden, Sheffield Organic Growers and Moss Valley Market Garden.

Bookable activities available on the day:

- The street feast!

While we will be accepting walk-ups on the day subject to availability, it is really helpful for us if you can choose a time slot and book in advance. This helps us reduce food waste and make sure we can safely manage crowd numbers over the course of the day.

For any dietary requirements, please contact eimear.odonovan@regather.net

- Tours of our edible community garden on Lansdowne Estate.

Come and see the edible planting that Regather have been adding to this corner of Sheffield. This is a chance to refresh your plant ID skills and talk about the practicalities of growing food in an urban environment. The tour takes approximately 45 - 50 minutes over a distance of 0.7 miles and there will be plenty of time for questions. The route features raised kerbs but is otherwise wheelchair accessible. (50 mins)

- Guided walks to and from Sheffield General Cemetery suitable for all ages.

Join us for a walk up to and around Sheffield General Cemetery. This trail will take you to see some of the art, architecture and symbols around Sheffield General Cemetery and tell you a bit about the history and meaning behind them. This can be a fun trail to do with children, get them to spot the symbols as you go round! On the trail you will also get a chance to see an exhibition about the medicinal history of plants in the woodland. (1 hour)

- History of Little Sheffield Feast with Brian Holmshaw

Little Sheffield is a historic neighbourhood dating back to the 1800s covering parts of Sharrow, and there is a long history of fairs known as 'feasts' in the area going all the way back to 1296. Join local historian and councillor Brian Holmshaw for a short tour to learn more about the story of the Little Sheffield Feast and the history of this corner of Sheffield. (45 mins)

Booking for the above activities is free. If your plans change and you cannot attend, please let us know.

Plus drop in activities, no booking required:

- Apple juicing stand! Regather will be running an apple juicing stand to enjoy fresh pressed juice with your meal or music.

- Live music from Soup Review and Liana Condor.

- Sheffield General Cemetery will be hosting a stall with information on Victorian funerary foods and Michaelmas history.

We want to celebrate the amazing work done by local food organisations over the last 18 months, facing unprecedented challenges, from the pandemic to Brexit supply chain issues and climate change. From the local gardening volunteers wanting to connect with the production and growing of their food and to do something positive to benefit the local area and community, to the organisations like Shipshape and Foodhall who have been working so hard to keep people fed during a pandemic, particularly marginalised communities around Sheffield – there is so much to celebrate and applaud.

Poster artwork: Aimee Felstead is a landscape architect, researcher and illustrator passionate about building communities, sharing things and growing food in cities.

This event will be run in line with local & national government COVID-19 guidelines at the time of the event. We will be making every effort to keep our audience, volunteers, partners and staff safe, and we politely request the same courtesy be shown by all who choose to attend.
