Ahead of the festival week we have been sharing with colleagues the links to the festival week.

To allow for more colleagues to attend we have published the Festival Week Page . The page features all the live sessions.

We have password protected the sessions to ensure only public sector employees gain access. To receive the password please visit the #conference channel on the cross-government data science slack or email the Government Data Science Festival team using your public sector email.

About the Festival

The Government Data Science Festival is an opportunity to share knowledge and connect with colleagues.

The week-long festival will take place between 28 September and 2 October. It will focus on “Enabling the new normal: The role of data science in moving towards a post-COVID world”.

We will reflect on how teams have executed analysis and the lessons learned from the work that has been done so far.

The Festival consists of 9 strands:

Data science careers

Privacy statement

Data collected will be stored jointly by GDS and ONS for event management purposes.

What data we need The personal data we collect from you will include: your name, email address, job title, organisation. The legal basis for processing this data is for the exercise of official authority.

Why we need it We need this information to effectively manage the event you would like to attend. This includes making sure we know who is attending and capacity limits are not exceeded, the event is accessibility and caters to everyone's needs as much as possible, and to maintain a diverse and equal audience.

What we do with it We will: Make sure your data is only used in relation to the event you are attending for the purpose of event management and communications. We will share your data if we are required to do so by law – for example, by court order, or to prevent fraud or other crime. We will only retain your personal data for as long as it is needed for the purposes set out in this document or for as long as is required by law.

We will not: sell or rent your data to third parties share your data with third parties for marketing purposes
