Register your interest in joining the Midlands Engine trade delegation to the TRAKO International Railway Fair

Taking place this September, the TRAKO 12th International Railway Fair is the second largest rail show in Europe with more than 15,000 visitors and 600 exhibitors in 20,000m2 of exhibition space. The exhibition brings together all elements of the rail industry from passenger rail, light rail and freight, as well as infrastructure with industry attendance and participation from across the board.

The Department for International Trade is looking to lead a market visit to this year’s TRAKO event, with a bespoke programme designed to turn your export aspirations into a reality.

During the visit you can expect to:

• Visit an operator and see first hand how your offer may sit in this rail market
• Participate in a programme of seminars by key Polish rail organisations
• Benefit from an Exhibition stand in the UK Pavilion and feature in a Mission Brochure showcasing your strengths
• Meet with Commercial Officers from the wider CEE region to discuss market entry and opportunities for you
• Explore and have an insight into the 2nd largest rail trade show in Europe
• Research market trends and competition from both the Poland and wider CEE rail markets
• Network amongst buyers, press and exhibitors to establish new contacts
• Participate in the conference programme available during Trako to increase market knowledge and awareness
• Attend a network session with potential partners, collaborators and distributors

Please note that this is an indication of the type of activity you can expect to achieve during your time in market.

This visit is perfect for you if you have never exported before. It's also ideal if you haven’t exported in the last 12 months, you export less than 10% of your turnover, or you export to 3 or fewer countries.

Cost & Grants

A commitment fee of £150 + VAT is applicable for each organisation. Any extra delegates from the same organisation wishing to participate will be charged an additional £100 + VAT per delegate.

Financial support of £250 is available for those companies in the Midlands Engine area who meet the required eligibility criteria as detailed on the application form.




Proposed Market Visit Itinerary

Sunday 24 September: Arrival and check in

Monday 25 September:

AM - Visit and tour of GAIT Gdanskie Autobusy i Tramwaje. This is the city operator of 231 coaches and 124 tram sets. Hosted by British Chamber of Commerce representative (Polish/English fluency), a 3 hour programme with GAIT will include: Operational overview; Project pipeline and Procurement overview; Guided visit on network and/or depot (dependant on location).

DAY - Group Transfer to Amber Expo Conference Centre followed by networking lunch and seminar with Department for International Trade Poland. The programme is expected to include topics such as:

• Railway Campaign in Central Europe Network
• Development of Polish railways, Ministry of Infrastructure and Construction
• Investment and modernisation projects on PKP PLK’s network
• Product acceptance process
• Opportunities in railway sector in Hungary/Romania/Bulgaria
• Polish railway infrastructure projects from the prime-contractor’s perspective
• Successful and competitive passenger operator – development plans of Koleje Mazowieckie
• How to do business in CEN - opportunities and challenges
• PESA – innovative rolling stock

PM - Delegates dinner at local restaurant in Gdansk, attended by Sophie Honey HMA in Slovenia, the Ambassador of the DIT Rail HVC CEN, and DIT colleagues from the region.

Tuesday 26 September

Trako Fair. Companies to pursue own business objectives in addition to:

• Research market trends and competition from both the Poland and wider CEN rail markets
• Participate in the conference programme available during Trako to increase market knowledge and awareness
• Participate in delegation tours to Great Pavilion
• Network amongst buyers, press and exhibitors to establish new contacts

PM - Meetings with CEN (Central and Eastern Europe Network) Commercial Officers, possibly followed by a small networking event with members of the Railway Business Forum (dependant on delegation numbers).

End of formal programme

Delegates are free to return to UK, or remain at the show with optional networking reception below.

Wednesday 27 September

AM - Trako Fair. Companies to pursue own business objectives at above.

PM - British-Polish networking reception at Amberexpo. This is free of charge, but please notify the Mission Organiser if you intend to attend this event.
