Event description

Description

Inequality in the UK has been rapidly rising, global equality is still far off and climate change threatens the well-being of people and the planet. In order to address these issues, we need to be addressing the root of the problems. We need to be challenging the system that allowed all this to happen in the first place.
Reimagining the Economy will tell our story of the past ten years from a citizens' perspective and put the public interest first when looking at the future together. We want to bring people together to stand up against the big negative impact of finance, fueling social inequality, poverty, shortage of public services, and climate change and embrace a new way of producing and of sharing resources and wealth.

Featuring an opening panel with Grace Blakeley, Bodo Ellmers and Derek Hall; workshops by Living Rent, Global Justice Now and Friends of the Earth Scotland; discussion on alternatives like 'Coops and Credit Unions' and our own version of a global financial question time featuring politicians.

Reimagining the economy brings together thinkers, activists, politicians and citizens to explore the huge range of options available to us to take action at a global and local level, to create an economy that puts people first. Dominant economic ideas are driving the world into debt meltdown and climate chaos, but how can ordinary people take back control of the economy?

[We have three tiers of ticket pricing but, to avoid charges you can pay for these on the door. If you cannot afford these then please just get in touch and we can sort you out with a free one.]
