About this event

Reimagining the Future in Older Age is a research project based at the University of Stirling, exploring the relationship between older age and future time.

How can we imagine a later life that is led by opportunity, desire and creativity as we age? What would this look like? And how can we challenge ageist assumptions about the (in)significance of the future in later life?

In this online event we will screen a 40 minute film by director Ray Bird that explores the relationship between older age and future time. The film shows how arts company Active Inquiry used Forum Theatre with the research team and a group of older adults to identify and challenge systemic age-based oppression. The theatre pieces that were created, Waiting for Dot and Return to Wonderland, challenge ageist narratives and offer potential alternatives.

The screening will be followed by a Q&A with the research team, director Ray Bird, Active Inquiry and research participants.
