Reinventing Jaywick Sands
Mon 17 October 2016, 09:00 – 17:00 BST
Do you have fond memories of Jaywick Sands? Many families experienced wonderful summer holidays at this popular resort but sadly the years have not been kind to this seaside town.
Rejuvenating and regenerating Jaywick Sands is a key ambition of both ECC and TDC – the task is not an easy one, and it is a task that really does require thinking “out of the box” and the impossible needs to be thought of as “the possible”.
Architectural students at the University of Westminster have completed a detailed project, considering Jaywick with fresh eyes whilst also remembering its heritage, and their work will be on display to inspire new innovative ideas as well as to challenge the opinions that some may have of the area and its future potential.
Could Jaywick Sands become a sustainable and delightful seaside town of which we and the residents can be proud? Come and take a look at some of these innovative ideas and tell us what you think. The ideas of these students are just that – innovative ideas, but maybe they will inspire you to think about The Art of the Possible and what that could really mean to the people that reside in this and the surrounding area.
Going forward maybe a younger generation will start to create fond memories of summer holidays in Jaywick Sands…………….
