Event Title

Relationships and  Sexual Health and Education (SRE) for Staff working with  primary school aged Children and Young people

Focus Area

This training has been developed using nationally evaluated and recognised Sexual Heath and Relationships Education materials.

 

It will include interactive, attitudinal and values based work designed to challenge preconceptions on various aspects when delivering SRE to children in the classroom to ensure Relationships, sexual health and parenthood (RSHP)experiences and outcomes identified from early through to first and second stages are are fulfilled.

 

The training will give delegates the opportunity to identify their development needs and support staff learning and experiences by using practical activities to develop their knowledge and skills.

This will include developing skills required to create a safe and inclusive environment where staff may be required to answer challenging questions from children and young people or deal challenging situations in the classroom which may arise from the topic subject, today’s environment  and curious young minds.

Course Content/Objectives

This training aims to increase staffs comfort and confidence levels and build on knowledge and skills required to effectively engage and educate primary school children about relationships, sexual health and parenthood education.

To encourage whole school planning of SRE planning and delivery – Best practice: to be delivered holistically and progressively through each age and stage to support the RSHP curriculum from early through to second level

Outcomes sought

Increase awareness of resources available to deliver a progressive RSHP curriculum

Increased confidence in the delivery of a progressive RSHP curriculum (Nursery age to P7)
