Description

During this workshop we will be learning how to release the habitual nature of the startle or freeze reflex. This is a trauma response in which our body's reflex reaction to a threat is to shut down, physically withdrawing into ourselves by rounding the spine and bending forward, hunching the shoulders and drawing the legs inwards.One of the major muscles in this reflex is the diaphragm which inhibiting our breath and locks the upper body. This is something that is in action often for those who suffer from Anxiety or nervous tension and related issues like Asthma.
We will spend the day feeling into and releasing the diaphragm and the muscles that work with it to create the startle reflex posture.

Please note that this workshop is only suitable for those that have either had one to one sessions or have been to a few classes with me before. If you are new to the work please come along to the intro workshop or my drop in class at Bristol City yoga.
