About this event
Come and learn the traditional Japanese mending embroidery method of Sashiko and Boro stitching - to fix and revive your damaged or old clothing!
During this 2 hour workshop, you will be given an introduction to the traditional Japanese method of mending with Sashiko and Boro embroidery and using beautiful fabrics as patches to fix any holes in your clothing. You will have a range of Sashiko stencil designs to choose from, and our friendly tutor will give you design suggestions on how to layer up your patches, to give that authentic Japanese Boro effect.
RESTORATION LONDON is an independent organisation that focuses on sustainability within the clothing industry. Our focus is on reusing, recycling and upcycling existing garments. We hold workshops around London, encouraging participants to mend their favourite items of clothing instead of disposing them into landfills. Our workshops aim to introduce ways of mending clothing through various textile methods in order to fix, deconstruct or customise to revive much-loved pieces. We aim to inspire people to learn new, invaluable skills and reconnect with textile techniques, encouraging creativity and mindfulness when it comes to your wardrobe.
