About this event
This year marks the 27th anniversary of the genocide at Srebrenica, in which over 8,000 Bosnian Muslim men and boys were murdered, in what the United Nations has described as ‘the worst atrocity on European soil since the Second World War’.
Please join Brent Council in a collective act of remembrance to commemorate the victims of this atrocity and reaffirm our commitment to standing up to hatred and prejudice and remind ourselves of the need to strengthen our resolve so that “never again” is truly meant.
Brent Council strongly condemns all forms of hatred, prejudice and discrimination based on people’s faith, race, gender, sexual orientation, disability and culture. Our thoughts are with survivors and families who have lost loved ones through acts of hate and violence’.
We know that it can be difficult to go to the police to report a hate crime. If you are a survivor of a hate crime or know someone who is there many support agencies in place to support and offer guidance. https://www.brent.gov.uk/nuisance-crime-and-community-safety/hate-crime#gethelpandsupport
This memorial event will be held at the Drum during Srebrenica Memorial Week on 4th July 2022 and will include contributions from the Bosnian and Herzegovina Community Advice Centre and Remembering Srebrenica.
The memorial event will also be livestreamed at https://brent.public-i.tv/core/portal/webcast_interactive/679138
