Event description
REN and MiFriendly Cities are delighted to invite you to a Roundtable discussion on refugee employment in the public sector.

About this event

Despite the impact of Covid-19 on the UK labour market, 2020 saw a significant increase in the number of public sector roles available. The latest Office of National Statistics report on public sector employment, released in December of last year, shows an increase of 65,000 additional NHS workers amidst a rise in overall public sector employment of nearly 3%. The Government has also recently announced that the number of DWP work coaches has doubled to 27,000 across the UK.

We believe that this is the perfect time to host a public sector roundtable where we will:

  • Hear from refugees who are working for the NHS and DWP
  • Gain insight into where there are existing opportunities in accessing training, work experience, and jobs within the public sector
  • Provide an opportunity for refugee support organisations to connect with public sector employers
  • Facilitate space for an open discussion and questions & answers

We hope this will be a really interesting and informative session and would love for you to join us.
