Event description

Description

The truth may never be known about the incidents that took place in Rendlesham Forest in December 1980. They have since begun to drift into the mists of folklore, and the mythological fog of war, and have been described as 'Britain's Roswell'.

But something truly unusual did happen. A large number of United States Air Force personnel from the nearby twin bases at RAF Woodbridge and RAF Bentwaters witnessed phenomena that none of them have ever been able to explain. The official memo spoke of ‘unexplained lights’ – UFOs being too emotive a term – but, as later emerged, there was much more to it than that.

Master storytellers Minimum Labyrinth have created a new experience that takes you on a trip from London to the silent beauty of the Suffolk woods, from the present day to the height of the Cold War, from the humdrum to the uncanny. Whether you want to believe, or you are resolutely sceptical, within the remarkable events we find a story of our own fears and compulsions.

Additional dates

If there is sufficient demand we will extend this tour to additional dates close by. Once you have booked, we will notify you if we do this, and offer you the option of changing your attendance date if you wish to. You will not be able to do this within 28 days of whichever date is earlier.

The walk

  • The guided tour takes place on a public walking trail managed by Forestry England.
  • Some of the walk is through narrow paths in woodland during winter and so appropriate footwear is essential.
  • The entire walk is c. 4km (2.5 miles) and takes c. 90 minutes including stops. You will need to be physically able to complete the circular route. There are no hills on the route.
  • The route is not, unfortunately, suitable for buggies or wheelchairs.

Limitations on liability

  • The coach operator is fully insured for all journeys.
  • Participants must ensure their own safety and comfort on the walks and in the pubs.
  • Minimum Labyrinth can accept no responsibility for injury, radiation burns or sickness, missing time, abduction, biological experiments, mutilations, implants, phantom pregnancies, involvement in hybrid EBE-human genetic engineering, or the actions or inactions of governmental or quasi-governmental agencies.

A note on sources

  • The audio narrative and guided tour draw information from previously published accounts of the events surrounding the Rendlesham Forest incident.
  • Minimum Labyrinth aim to present a balanced view of the available evidence to an interested but non-specialist audience, enriched by a political and cultural perspective of the time.
  • We must stress to specialist ufologists that no previously unseen testimonies or evidence will be presented.

FAQs

  • Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event? We suggest that this event is not suitable for under-14s.
  • What are my transport/parking options for getting to and from the event? The pick-up point will be close to Stratford Station. As well as the public transport interchange, there are several car parks available.
  • Can you pick me up from intermediate locations? Sorry, but in order to keep to schedule, we can't stop along the way.
  • Can I join just for the walk and make my own way there? We are not offering this option, as an integral part of the event will be the story told on the journey there.
  • What's the refund policy? Tickets refundable 30 days before the event.
  • Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event? Either that, or you can show it electronically.
  • Can I update my registration information? Yes.
  • Is my registration fee or ticket transferrable? Yes.
  • Is it ok if the name on my ticket or registration doesn't match the person who attends? Yes, but there will be a cut-off point for lunch choices so they may have to eat what you ordered!
  • Ooh, the pub has lots of other delicious lunch options. Can I choose from its à la carte menu when I get there? Unfortunately not, as they won't have time to cook it and serve you before the coach leaves again for the walk itself.
  • I'm allergic to something on the menu. Let us know when booking and we will ask the pub what they can do.
