Event description

Description

*This is a series. Please book all ticket dates.*

Renewing Vocations, led by Vérène Nicolas, is designed to allow a small group to reflect on their ministries in company. Over the duration of the course, through prayer, reflection and using poetry, images and biblical texts, those participating will get in touch with some of the energy and motivation that carried them into ministry in the first place and gain new insight into what they might do about where they are right now. This offering has been designed as a direct result of conversation with individuals engaged in ministry and in response to their needs.
This work will take place over three days – 8th & 9th November + later date TBC

This offering is designed for all in ministry, whether lay person or office holder.

One of the first offerings on the PA Academy this year – ‘Meeting Challenges with Compassion’ was facilitated by Verene – here is what some of the participants had to say:

“As ministers we are cerebral. I think this has been a good experience in getting in touch with my feelings and how I feel at a visceral level.”

“When first advertised I was drawn to coming, but wondered whether it would be useful or a waste of time. I’m glad I came. It was what I hoped for and more. The first day helped me to finally get freed of something which had been dogging me for years, so I went home tired but feeling released.”

“Valuable in teaching skills and resourcing ministers in meeting challenges to our work. Helps resource resilience. Stimulating to be working at depth.”

“Great method by which to get in touch with feelings and make the move from head to heart. Would be helpful to ministries where there are difficulties in being present.”

“The two days have been informative, challenging and helpful. The different exercises have stretched me emotionally and creatively but also given me some tools to use personally and professionally for growth and development.”

Vérène has been working with the Priority Areas Committee since 2011 and has offered individual support to teams and facilitated many distinct professional development opportunities for ministers and Ministries Council staff. She is anchored in the Quaker tradition, and grew up in the Reformed church in France.
