This is an event for young people between 12 and 18* years old.
12-16 year old attendees must be accompanied by an adult over 18.
Do you have a bike that needs a fix or just some care and attention? We'll guide you through the essential skills needed to keep your bike running smoothly and in tip-top condition.
We've partnered with the team of experienced mechanics from Southsea Cycles to teach you the basics of bike maintenance so you can make simple repairs right from your own home. In our workshops, you'll learn how to prepare your bike for the road, ensuring it's safe and ready to ride, including how to carry out a safety check, fix a flat tyre and adjust your brakes and gears using tools you may already have at home.
Each workshop lasts for two hours and take place at North End Baptist Church. We recommend that you attend all three workshops to get the full benefit from the course.
Session 1 - Discover how to safely M-check (bike maintenance check) your bike, fix a puncture and look after your wheels
Session 2 - Maintain your brakes for a smoother, safe ride
Session 3 - Learn how to tune and repair cycle brakes and diagnose problems
*18 year old attendees whose 18th birthdays fall in 2024 can take part
