Dr Derek Mowbray

BA., MSc., MSc(Econ)., PhD., DipPsych., CPsychol., CSci., FBPsS., FIHM., FISMA..

Dr Mowbray is a Chartered Psychologist and Chartered Scientist, with a doctorate in the psychology of leadership. He is a visiting Professor of Psychology at the Universities of Northumbria and Gloucestershire, and director, The Management Advisory Service.

Dr Mowbray specialises in the primary prevention of psychological distress at work, with a focus on promoting a wellbeing and performance culture as the method of preventing the events and behaviours that may trigger stress in people from occurring in the first place.

His approach is to use positive psychology to help organisations create and sustain ‘the workplace as a fabulous and high performing place to work’.

Dr Mowbray draws on his personal experiences as a chief executive of several organisations in the public and private sectors in his earlier working life, along with his academic and research experience in organisations, leadership and stress, together with his own continuing experience as a small business entrepreneur.

His work and approach is easy to understand - common sense but not common practice. His mission is to make work a fantastic experience for everyone.

In this session Dr Mowbray will be presenting on Strengthening Personal Resilience.

This session is aimed at helping you boost your resilience. It is about YOU.

The presentation will be focusing on resilience as:

  • having flexible strength of mind to deal with challenges successfully.
  • being a choice and based on you having a robust attitude and a strong motivation to overcome challenging events and difficult situations.

It will:

  • provide exercises to help you develop your flexibility and build your strength of mind.
  • Signpost you to further relevant training courses, as well as other resources.
  • Provide you an opportunity to ask questions
