Just recently released, this new report reveals how British Muslims are a kaleidoscope of communities, with an internal diversity that is microcosm of British society as a whole. The report highlights both progress and persistent challenges facing Muslim communities in the UK. Drawing on the 2021 census data provided by the Office of National Statistics for England & Wales and Northern Ireland Statistics & Research Agency which included a question on religious affiliation. In Scotland the census was conducted in 2022 with data published by the National Records for Scotland. It was the outcome of an extensive interfaith campaign in which the MCB played a prominent role. The effort has come to be fully justified, as demonstrated in this report, in providing the facts about the nation’s plurality and diversity. There are now 20-years of data to inform public policymaking and raise awareness within Muslim civil society of some social realities. The full report can be downloaded here: https://mcb.org.uk/resources/censussummary2025/

In this presentation, Dr Sherif will present the key findings and observations for both for those working within the Muslim community leadership and organisations and thinkers and those involved in policy making at various levels from community to Government.
