What are our courses like?

Our courses and events are friendly and informal. Our training is aimed at making learning a fun rather than a daunting experience. Everyone’s views and experiences are listened to. You will not be lectured at and given every opportunity to participate and there is no exam at the end.

What happens if I need to cancel my place on the event?

Please given as much notice if you cannot attend the event after booking your place. It is not just time and effort that is put in to ensure that the learning offer meets the aims and needs of the membership but we sometimes have a waiting list.

Parking

If you are travelling by car, please note that there are limited car parking facilities at the office. The nearest public car park is situated about 5 minutes walk away ( pay and display) - Fitzroy Rd, Exeter EX1 3LJ

Catering Arrangements

Lunch is provided on the course as there are no local shops and/or cafes within walking distance of the venue. Kitchen facilities e.g., fridge & microwave are available should you prefer to bring your lunch with you. There are also tea & coffee making facilities that you can access.

You are entitled to ‘time off’ to attend the course. Please ensure you have secured this absence to attend the sessions. If you are having any difficulty, please contact your local UNISON Branch, who will be able to assist you.

When attending any UNISON course or event you should never be out of pocket. Please keep receipts for parking , bus fare , train travel and speak with your branch about claiming these costs back.
