About the book:

Country life should not be boring, but nor should it be dangerous.

Jason and Ralph make unlikely friends – one a dyed in the wool countryman, the other recently moved away from the city and new to village life; their backgrounds are totally different. A dog brought them together, that and the village pub kept them meeting, then an accident brings danger to them both and the repercussions threaten their lives.Meantime Alice Carter, a local newspaper reporter is seeking a career-boosting substantial story to help her get a job on a national newspaper. Crossing paths with the two men may just help her ambitions. Both men have secrets, and after the accident they find they are on a path that gradually exposes their secrets and not only puts them in danger but changes their lives in unexpected ways.

About Patrick Forsyth:

Patrick has lived in Maldon for 26 years and has written widely throughout much of his life, first with non-fiction, later adding several books of light-hearted travel writing (set in Southeast Asia), a humorous book, two puzzle books and fiction in the form of novels set in Maldon – plus a book of short stories. Recently his novel, Once a Thief, has been in the news because a screenplay written of it (by a professional screenwriter) won first in its class at the Berlin International Film Festival and has gone on to win eighteen further awards around the world. Commenting on this Patrick says, “Even I am now thinking it must be a pretty good tale, though I am not setting the television to record just yet… but who knows? Fingers crossed.”
