About this Event

The Research and Innovation Staff Development Programme (RISDP) is a series of professional skills and career development workshops and information sessions, facilitated by RIS and offered to staff working to deliver, manage or support the delivery of the University's Research and Innovation Strategy. The University is committed to this programme as an important mechanism to support and develop staff engaged in R and I. In order to ensure it meets the professional development needs of current and future staff, it is crucial that we ensure that the programme remains current and supports the strategic intentions of faculties, departments and centres in its design and delivery, whilst complementing other support offered from the wider university (faculties and professional services).

With this in mind, we are undertaking a review of the current programme (over 2 phases) and are extremely interested to hear from colleagues across the university regards what a 'refreshed' RISDP might look like. The two phases align with plans for the upcoming academic year (Phase 1) and for AY 2020 onwards (Phase 2). For Phase 1 of the review, we are offering two ways of engaging - through focus/discussion groups and a Google Form survey. As well as outlining the proposed plans for the current academic year and for AY 2020 onwards, both the survey and focus groups will allow stakeholders to share their thoughts, comments and ideas on a number of questions, including:

What's working well with the current programme - what content remains high priority?

Are there any gaps in the content of what is being offered? Any unmet need?

Are there any challenges with the current design or delivery of the current programme?

How can we ensure that marketing and promotion of the programme is effective in engaging the right people to the right sessions?

Are there other modes of delivery that we should be exploring to complement/enhance the face-to-face sessions, including making best use of digital tools and resources?Anyone is welcome to attend, whether you have accessed a RISDP session before or not.

If you are unable to attend any of the sessions, but would like to provide your input to the review, the survey will be distributed mid-May. Alternatively, we would be happy to meet with any groups of staff to discuss. Please contact lisa.rhodes@port.ac.uk.
