Description

Research Governance Training

This one day course is intended to give researchers, at all levels of seniority, an introduction and overview of the governance arrangements for doing any research involving human subjects. More widely applicable than GCP, it covers the ethical and regulatory rules concerning research generally and not only clinical trials of new medicinal products (CTIMPs), and whether involving the NHS or not. These include research using personal data, human tissue and organs, and involving vulnerable participants.

While all researchers at UCL and its partnering hospitals should attend, if you are interesting in thinking critically through the rules and procedures researchers are required to follow, this is the course for you. Run by an academic ethicist whose 2014 REF Impact case study on the ethics of health research scored 4*, the course is more seminar than lecture and encourages interaction and discussion at the same time as imparting the rules.
