Research Group: International Peer Leadership Network

Actions and Detail Panel

Online event

As members of the International Peer Leadership Network, we have a vested interest in the direction, commissioning, and use of Peer research

About this event

We know from our own experience that peer work/support is effective, but how do we demonstrate this?

In order to influence decision-makers, who hold the power to promote and commission peer work services, we need to argue why peer work should be prioritised over other approaches. Research can play an important role in bolstering the credibility of peer work/research, particularly in countries where new healthcare initiatives need to be ‘evidence-based’.

Beyond promoting the credibility of peer work and research, we want to ask the big questions that will inspire future research activity. For example, have researchers been able to identify innovative methods for improving the effectiveness of peer activities? Or what are the best ways to co-design peer services for communities with particular needs?

Service user involvement in research projects is becoming increasingly commonplace, and peer leaders have a unique opportunity to influence the research agenda. But how do we get involved?
