Research Impact and Parliament
Event Information
Description
Research is one type of evidence that can strengthen Parliament‘s important democratic functions - debating the issues of the day, creating and revising laws, and examining and critiquing the actions of government. However, we know little about the ways that it feeds into Parliamentary processes currently.
The purpose of this event is to inform academics about the many ways that they can improve their impact on Parliament. It will present findings from an analysis into the impact case studies submitted as part of the recent HEFCE Research Excellence Framework (REF) to showcase the different ways that academics (from all disciplines) have contributed to Parliamentary processes. It will also draw out lessons for Parliament on how it is currently engaging with academics, and how it might in the future.
This reception will give attendees the opportunity to speak with researchers, Parliamentarians, Parliamentary staff and other relevant stakeholders about their experiences in an informal setting during a wine reception.
