Event description

Description

How can your research be heard in the UK Parliament and the National Assembly for Wales?

The UK Parliament and the National Assembly for Wales use research and academic knowledge to inform scrutiny and legislation.

Academics can help to ensure that the decisions that affect people’s lives are taken with the best available evidence.

This training event is interactive with plenty of opportunity for discussion and questions. A networking session with refreshments is included. After the training you will:

  • Understand Parliament’s role and processes
  • Know how research is used in the UK Parliament and the National Assembly for Wales
  • Be able to identify opportunities to feed your research into the UK Parliament and the National Assembly for Wales' work
  • Learn tips and advice on communicating your research at the UK Parliament and the National Assembly for Wales

Using Parliamentary Office of Science and Technology research into the 2014 REF case studies, this event will also discuss how academics are having impact in the UK Parliament and give practical advice and information about how to get involved.

There is an attendance fee of £40, including VAT. If this fee is a barrier to your attendance, please contact us; we may make exceptions in some circumstances.

Please note that this event is aimed at academics and researchers. If you would like a free community workshop about how the UK Parliament works and how you can get involved, please contact the Outreach and Engagement Service directly or complete our Community workshop booking form.

Any queries may be addressed to the Houses of Parliament Universities Programme at universities@parliament.uk or on 0207 219 8711.
