Event description

Description

The University will submit over 70 impact case studies in 2020 as part of its REF submission. With an increased weighting for impact, and a restructuring of the REF submission, these impact case studies are worth over 50% more towards the overall REF score than in the previous exercise. In the context of the increased value of research impact in the REF, we are offering a series of Research Impact in REF2021 briefings to introduce researchers to how research impact functions in the REF, and update on what has changed since REF2014.

These sessions are for research staff and administrators who are either new to the REF, need an update on what is new for impact in REF2021, or would like a refresher on how research impact works in the REF.

We will cover the basics of how research impact is included in the REF submission, differences between the last and the next REF exercises, and discuss how to plan and write a 4* impact case study.

Sessions led by: Matt Bennett, Nikki Pockett, and Matthew Wells (the Research and Enterprise Office's impact team).
