Description

You are invited to join us for the Research on Work and Health event, co-hosted by the North West component of the Centre for Musculoskeletal Health and Work, and the Lancaster University Work and Health Forum. As part of this event, we are pleased to welcome Dr Karen Walker-Bone of Southampton University to Lancaster who will present:

- Good Work is Good for our Health - but what is Good Work? Work is important for people to valued in society, maintain their financial stability and for their health. However, we continue to have a wide disability employment gap with many people with long-term conditions unable to access appropriate work. The Arthritis Research UK/MRC Centre for Musculoskeletal Health and Work is a national research collaboration seeking cost-effective ways to reduce work disability caused by musculoskeletal disorders. This talk will describe the Centre, explain the types of research taking place and the potential impact.

The seminar will also include presentations on topics including, among others:

- Employees' perspectives on sickness certification
- Working with rheumatoid arthritis
- Working out what makes it likely that resources to support mental health in the workplace are used and useful
- The impact of co-morbidities upon work in musculoskeletal disorders
- Exploring the impact of health status and wellbeing in People with Inflammatory Arthritis on presenteeism in the workplace.

This is a valuable opportunity for researchers to meet, exchange knowledge and ideas, and learn about some of the latest developments and studies in the area of Work and Health coming out of the Universities of Lancaster, Liverpool, Manchester, Salford, and Southampton.

All are welcome to attend.
