Event description

Description

We are pleased to invite you to *Research Professional's Question Time: Global Research Matters at the EICC Edinburgh on the evening of 4th June 2018.

International partnerships in research have risen dramatically over recent decades, at the same time gaining a growing reputation for excellence. More than half of the publication volume of the world’s leading research nations now involves international collaboration, including many of the most highly cited papers.

To discuss the benefits of international research partnerships, and how barriers to them can be overcome, Research Fortnight’s group editor Sarah Richardson will chair a panel discussion of university and science policy leaders, followed by questions from the audience. Our panel comprises:

  • David Sweeney, executive chair, Research England

  • Sir Ian Diamond, vice-chancellor of the University of Aberdeen

  • Kim Moreland, associate vice chancellor, research & sponsored programs, University of Winsconsin

  • Maria Ana Cataluna, Young Academy of Scotland and Heriot Watt University

  • Ben Prasadam-Halls, Director of Programmes, The Association of Commonwealth Universities

17:45 - Welcome drinks

18.50 - 20:05 - Question Time

20.05 - Fish & chip supper

Chair: Sarah Richardson, Group Editor, *Research
