Audrey Ryback
Student Action for Refugees (STAR)
Hear about how this national student network and its UCLU branch are working to improve the lives of refugees in the UK, and how you may be able to contribute.
Dr Rachel Rosen
UCL Institute of Education (IoE)
Rachel is programme leader for MA Sociology of Childhood and Children's Rights, and will describe her groundbreaking research on the care of children, by children among unaccompanied asylum-seeking groups, conducted in collaboration with Sarah Crafter of the Open University.
Nerea Amoros Elorduy
The Bartlett School of Architecture
A UCL PhD student with links to both the Bartlett's Development Planning Unit (DPU) and the Institute of Education (IoE), Nerea will talk about her research into how the built environment in long-term refugee camps in East Africa is affecting young children's development and learning.
Raphaela Armbruster
UCL Centre for Languages & International Education (CLIE)
Raphaela is Admissions Tutor for the Undergraduate Preparatory Certificate for the Humanities (UPCH), one of two foundation courses for international students of high academic potential taught at CLIE. She will describe the efforts of a UCL staff-student working group that was established to support refugee initiatives.
Dr Elena Fiddian-Qasmiyeh
UCL Geography
In addition to teaching in the Department of Geography, Elena is Co-Director of the Migration Research Unit and Coordinator of UCL's Refuge in a Moving World research network. She will elaborate upon ongoing work to make UCL a refugee-friendly institution.
