Description

Gender in Wales Then and Now: Representations, Understandings and Lived Experiences

Wednesday 7th June 2017, 10.00am – 5.00pm

The College of Human and Health Sciences at Swansea University, in association with HEFCW and The University of Wales Press Fund, is pleased to host a Research Symposium on Gender in Wales Then and Now: Representations, Understandings and Lived Experiences.

Drawing on recently published work by Dr Michael Ward (2015) and Dr Dawn Mannay (2015) this one day symposium will bring together a range of interdisciplinary Welsh academics and early career scholars, to share ideas, theories and understandings of gender in Wales.

Symposium themes include:

  • Nation, locality and liminal spaces
  • Everyday performances of gender
  • The impact of de-industrialization
  • Marginalised masculinities, femininities and sexualities

The Symposium is a free one-day event. Lunch will be provided and a wine reception will follow the day’s event. There will be bursaries to cover some presenters’ travel expenses.

Places are limited so book your place today!
