Research Workload Management Workshop
In the context of the Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF) and of Stern and the next Research Excellence Framework (REF), this workshop will explore the complex question of managing and including research and scholarship in the allocation of academic workload. Participants will be asked to complete a very brief survey pre-workshop about where they are at in their own management of these issues and the results will inform the discussion in the first workshop session. Other sessions will cover a range of issues including:
How research is captured in workload models
The relationship between inputs, outputs and outcomes in workload management
Workload allocation, performance management and REF
A case study of experience at Goldsmiths
All sessions will be designed both to inform and to engage, and will allow for plenty of interaction and sharing of experience.
The workshop will be presented and facilitated by Terry Threadgold with support from Robert Zimmer who will present a case study from Goldsmiths.
Professor Emerita Terry Threadgold, Cardiff University and Performance for All.
Professor Robert Zimmer, Goldsmiths University of London
Details about the exact location of the meeting will be circulated with joining instructions, but delegates can make their way to Deptford Town Hall, where a Goldsmiths colleague will direct you to the precise room. A campus map showing Deptford Town Hall (no.17 on the map) can be found here.
