Description

A day to celebrate the value of research for psychotherapy practice

This workshop should hold appeal for both qualified practitioners with an interest in research and evaluation, and for students and trainees new to psychotherapy. There will be sessions in which to learn more about research methods; carry out research; and opportunities to discuss ongoing research plans and projects, from the ideas stage to those near completion.

The day will feature two keynote presentations from Professor Sarah Niblock on Thinking Like a Journalist: How to Mediate Your Research and Professor Brett Kahr on “How to Conduct Research in the Gaps Between Patients: Confessions of a Full-Time Clinician.”

Workshop sessions will be offered by a range of experts in psychotherapy research. Sessions will include:

  • Using Your Own Experience As Research Data
  • New and Creative Research Methods
  • Making Sense of Our Work: Case Study Research in Systemic Therapy
  • Is Your Theory Grounded? Deciding Whether To Take Notice of Qualitative Research Papers
  • Help! Research Advice and Consultation Session

The day will be informal and interactive, with space for networking. We very much hope you will join us and meet your fellow members for an inspiring and enjoyable day. If you require additional information, please contact us via events@ukcp.org.uk
