Innovation Optimiser

Researcher to Innovator Series 2: Pathways to creating impact

Tuesday 14th May, 08:15 - 20:00

Penthouse Suite, AMBS, Booth Street West, M15 6PB

The UMIP Innovation Optimiser Researcher to Innovator (R2I) programme is a series of 4 bespoke one-day training events for Early Career Researchers* (ECRs) at The University of Manchester who have an interest in commercialisation.

The first of the series is this fully-funded, one-day 'boot-camp' style event - co-developed and delivered by well-respected experts in research and innovation - comprising a series of interactive professional development sessions.

Using effective tools, techniques and approaches, these sessions will enable you to explore opportunities in your research for development through commercialisation, equipping you with strategies to move forward with your idea and discover new pathways to funding.

Is this event for me?

Are you an ECR at The University of Manchester with an interest in turning your discoveries and ideas into something amazing? Then prepare yourself for a challenging yet fun, interactive, insightful, practical and highly supportive programme.

A maximum of 30 places are available on a FCFS basis.

If you take part in this initial boot-camp and are interested in moving forward with your idea, you'll be invited to participate in the rest of the R2I programme on the following dates:

  • Tuesday 4th June
  • Wednesday 3rd July
  • Tuesday 10th September

*UK Research Council definition of ECR: an individual who is within eight years of the award of their PhD or equivalent professional training, or an individual who is within six years of their first academic appointment. These durations exclude any period of career break, e.g. for family care or health reasons. The ‘first academic appointment’ is defined as the first paid contract of employment, either full-time or part-time, which lists research and/or teaching as the primary functions. The award of PhD is defined at the point of successful PhD viva.

Please note: this event is free to attend, however, places are limited and by booking onto this programme you are agreeing to attend. Should you be unable to attend, failure to cancel your booking within 72 hours of the event will result in us invoicing you a surcharge of £100+VAT per person.

Data protection and privacy

To aid organisation of this event, attendee information may be shared with relevant staff at UMIP and partner organisations. For example, a list of attendees could be provided to speakers, or catering choices to our caterers.
