Event description
Ruth Cammies, University Archivist, will be using examples from her own family history research to show how to trace your female ancestors

About this Event

Finding your female ancestors can be a challenge. A woman’s maiden name disappeared from many records after she married, meaning we can end up with branches of our family tree full of our male ancestors’ names beside ‘married unknown’.

In the latest Women@OU lunchtime seminar, Ruth Cammies, University Archivist, will be using examples from her own family history research to show how these challenges can be overcome to reveal fascinating details about the women on your family tree.

Ruth will be introduced by the Women@OU Network sponsor Josie Fraser and will join us between 12:30 and 1:30pm on Tuesday 17 September in Michael Young Building rooms 1 and 2 (and online via Skype). All OU staff are welcome.

You can find further information about the Women@OU network on the Women@OU website, and sign up for news via Twitter, Yammer and the ou-women-list.

To inform us of any mobility, access or other requirements you may have please contact ou-women@open.ac.uk.
