About this event

There are six sessions on offer to choose from, please see below for a short summary of each workshop:

1. Sustaining High Performance In An Stressful Environment – 7th October 2021 from 10 - 11:30am

After 19 months of sustained, high performance work under unusual pressures, many NHS leaders and teams are feeling overwhelmed, even exhausted. The slip from manageable levels of stress to something more damaging can be so gradual it can easily get missed. This workshop is designed to help prevent this from happening by taking colleagues through the following:

Symptoms:

- What are the symptoms of stress?- When does stress become fatigue?- Measuring stress

Causes:

- External (time constraints, high pressure, high stakes, people etc)

- Internal (the neuroscience, core values, self-esteem)

Solutions:

- Perceptions

- Systems

- Habits

2. Post-traumatic Growth – 21st October 2021 from 10am - 11:30amPost-traumatic growth (PTG) is something that can occur in the aftermath of a trauma, but only once the trauma itself has been dealt with. This will be explained to attendees as a key part of this workshop and information on the help and support available to them will be shared. This workshop will be a general introduction to the concept of PTG and a chance to reflect on learnings and insights from the Covid period. There will be no expectation that PTG will occur at this point (or at all) and this will be emphasised throughout the process. The workshop will cover:

- What is post-traumatic growth? (The five domains)- What it ISN’T (resilience, an indicator of strength/ability/potential)- Recover first, then grow (Don’t force it! If you need help to deal with the trauma, seek it asap)-Reflect and explore! (Those who are comfortable will discuss what they’ve taken away from the Covid period so far, from new experiences [of any kind] to insights and realisations)

3. Growth Mindset – 4th November 2021 from 10am - 11:30am

Developing a growth mindset is hugely beneficial in many ways. The most powerful impact is the shift in how you view mistakes/failures.

This shift has 3 key benefits:

• Increased resilience

• Increased confidence/empowerment

• Ability to learn and improve faster

This workshop will cover:

- What is a ‘growth mindset’

- How it boosts individual and team performance

- How to develop a growth mindset in yourself

- How to develop a growth mindset in your team

4. Resilience – ‘The Sticking Point’ – 18th November 2021 from 10am - 11:30amIn his book ‘The Sticking Point’ Steve Thomson (Director at Unlimited Potential) paints a vivid picture of a world where emotional and intellectual pain is a visible and tangible thing that can be dealt with or disposed of in a variety of different ways. From that fictional world comes a practical and real-world workshop designed to build up and develop resilience in individuals.

This workshop will cover:

• Delegates are given free rein to explore how best to deal with the negative impact of various, real world scenarios.

• Scenarios are carefully selected to reflect the typical challenges faced by those attending.

• Delegates are given the techniques to recognise aspects of their daily life that may be adding to their stress or anxiety without them even realising it.

At the heart of resilience lies an understanding that trying to battle difficulties head to head is often the worst thing you can do. This workshop explains that thinking and leads attendees through the process of developing other ways of coping and overcoming the kind of tribulations that can undermine productivity, health and wellbeing.

5. Re-Connect workshop – 2nd December 2021 from 10am - 11:30am

This option will assist the team leader with taking their team through a series of exercises to ensure each stage of the 4 R’s model is facilitated effectively and uncover the team’s new ways of working in their ‘New Normal’ world. Not everything will have changed, so this also presents a great opportunity for the leaders to discuss what has worked and what hasn’t in the past. Recompressing a team will always present challenges and following this framework will ensure nothing gets missed that could cause problems further down the line.

This workshop will cover:

- Clarity on goals

- Alignment behind a shared vision and a shared language

- Clarity on actions going forward and the motivation to execute on them

6. Disruption-Unity Gap - 6th January 2021 from 10am - 11:30am

This workshop has been developed following our close work with the NHS throughout the COVID pandemic. It’s based on a model that reflects the journey NHS teams went through as the crisis progressed. What we learnt through working closely with hundreds of senior leaders from over 80 trusts, was that both unity AND disruption are crucial to the success and resilience of a team. A leader’s job is to aim to strike a constant balance between the two; the model: ‘The Disruption-Unity Gap’ is designed to help them do exactly that.

The workshop will cover:

New perspectives… Delegates will be introduced to the 4 key states of a team:

- Positive Disruption

- Negative Disruption

- Positive Unity

- Negative Unity

Viewing a team in terms of these states will offer a fresh perspective on how it’s performing and where problems can creep/have crept in.

Joining Instructions including a Teams link will be sent to attendee's 1 week prior to event - Please check your Junk/Spam folders.
