Event description

Description

The award-winning documentary Resilience is coming to Bath for a screening at Norland College - home to the internationally renowned Norland Nannies.

Resilience is a ground-breaking documentary, produced by Karen Pritzker and James Redford, for everyone who wants to better understand how and why children are impacted in multiple ways by early experiences of adversity, such as growing up without a sense that they emotionally exist and 'matter' to their parents or carers.

The findings of the Adverse Childhood Effects study, published in 1998, have revealed the most important public health findings of a generation. Scientists now realise that extreme childhood trauma is one of the leading causes of everything from heart disease and cancer to substance abuse and depression. Join us to find out how that was discovered and what we can all do to act on its insights.

The screening will be followed by a panel discussion of speakers, giving all attendees a chance to explore the insights generated by the documentary.

Join the debate on how we apply this understanding and research on resilience for our most vulnerable children first and foremost, but also for every child and young person forward.

It's free to RSVP but please note we will be collecting £3 per person on entry. All profits will go towards TAMBA's Helping Hands project. Refreshments will be available.
