A story of courage and resilience, And Still We Rise follows Richard Lusimbo, researcher and documentation manager for Sexual Minorities Uganda, as he documents the impact of the 2014 Anti-Homosexual Act in Uganda and the resistance carried out by activists and civil society organisations.

BEING UNBOUND (short doc)

The film centres around Mwamba, a female-to-male transperson living openly in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. Mwamba and his fellow activist friends fight for safe spaces and dialogue about issues of gender and sexuality which are too infrequently discussed.
SAME LOVE (music video)
(Art Attack, Kenya, 2015)
A Kenyan music video of an African-themed remix of American hip hop duo Macklemore & Ryan Lewis’s marriage equality anthem "Same Love”. A song about LGBTiQ struggles, gender equalities and civil liberties for all sexual orientations across Africa, it was banned by the Kenya Film Classification Board in February 2016.
Part of the Gaywise FESTival 2016, this screening represents a rare opportunity to engage with films about African LGBTiQ communities. The event includes community groups including the Out & Proud Diamond Group and two screenings. Doors open at 4:00 pm with an earlier screening at 5:30 pm (see separate event page for Outed: The Painful Reality). There will be ample opportunity for Q&A and discussion.
