1 day course

Overview: there is increasing recognition of the importance of developing resilience to respond to personal and workplace demands and also to get the most from life and work. This course is based on current evidence for developing personal resilience and healthy workplace cultures that support employee effectiveness and wellbeing. There will be practical information and opportunities to explore and try out techniques, resulting in an action plan to take initiatives forward. Accompanying the course is a participant workbook and a comprehensive set of hand-outs and resources.

Bristol Mind trainers:

Have extensive professional and personal experience in the fields of stress management and promoting mental health in the workplace.

Further training:

This course can be adapted to meet the requirements of specific teams and workplaces. Additional related training can also be offered e.g. stress and anxiety management; Mental Health First Aid.

Course aim:

To develop practical knowledge and skills to help build individual, team and organisational resilience in the workplace.

Course objectives:

  • To consider what resilience means in practice

  • To explore the significance of individual and organisational attitudes about resilience

  • Gain information about evidenced based factors that can aid resilience and how they can be put into practice

  • Practice specific resilience boosting thinking and behaving skills

  • Develop a resilience action plan that can be applied in the workplace on an individual, team and/or organisational level

Participant materials include a participant workbook and a comprehensive set of handouts and resources.

The training is being held at the University of Bristol Careers Service, 5 Tyndall Avenue, Bristol, BS8 1UD

University of Bristol Careers Service is located between the Arts and Social Sciences Library and the Sports Centre on Tyndall Avenue.

Light refreshments but no lunch provided.

Start and finish times:

Resilience in the Workplace registration starts at 9.15 am for a prompt start of 9.30 am and finishes at 4.30 pm. There will be refreshment and comfort breaks and an hour for lunch.

Buses

First Group operate the majority of local buses in Bristol. Use their bus search facility or the Bristol route group to plan your journey. Services to the University include:

The 9 and 72 bus services from Bristol Temple Meads train station run a combined frequency of every 15 minutes at peak times and stop at Tyndall Avenue on the University campus. The journey takes about 20-30 minutes.

The number number 8 service from Bristol Temple Meads train station runs at least every 10 minutes at peak times and stops by The Berkeley pub on Queen's Road opposite the Wills Memorial Building before heading towards the Richmond Building (Students' Union) and Clifton village. The journey takes about 20-30 minutes.

The 1,2,3,4 and the One bus services all stop in the Park Street, Triangle, Whiteladies Road area a couple of minutes’ walk from the University.

Parking

There are multistorey car parks about ten minutes' walk from the main campus: NCP Bristol Rupert Street; Trenchard Street Car Park; West End Car park.

Accessibility:

University of Bristol Careers Service premises are wheelchair accessible.

Refreshments and Comfort:

Light refreshments and breaks will be available during the day.

It is always difficult with a large group of people attending to find exactly the right temperature, so please dress in layers so that you can be as comfortable as possible.

Cancellation or unforeseen difficulties

If you are unable to attend, please can you let us know as soon as possible by emailing training@bristolmind.org.uk Cancellation less than 4 weeks before date of delivery of the first training session, will incur a cancellation charge of 50% of agreed fees and cancellation less than 2 week before date of delivery of the first training session, will incur a cancellation charge of the full agreed fees.
