Event description
Springwell Leeds Academy invites you to a FREE screening of “Resilience” and an introduction to Trauma Sensitive Practice

About this Event

We are proud to present our free event that includes;

• A screening of ‘The Resilience Movie’

• An introduction to Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs)

• Information and examples of Trauma Informed practice

• A window into how ACEs affect children’s brain development

Whether you are a lead professional or working in the arena of education, policing, social care or mental health services, our event aims to make you aware of just how important every adult can be for our young people in achieving healthy brain development and healing. Our aim is to share the message that, for all adults working with children, you can be the change, you can be the one and, together, we can change the path of life for our most vulnerable children.

About “Resilience”

‘THE CHILD MAY NOT REMEMBER, BUT THE BODY REMEMBERS.

Researchers discovered a dangerous biological syndrome caused by abuse and neglect during childhood. As the documentary “Resilience” reveals, toxic stress can trigger hormones that wreak havoc on the brains and bodies of children, putting them at a greater risk for disease, homelessness, prison time, and early death. While the broader impacts of poverty worsen the risk, no segment of society is immune.

Trailblazers in paediatrics, education, and social welfare are using cutting-edge science and field-tested therapies to protect children from the insidious effects of toxic stress—and the dark legacy of a childhood that no child would choose.’
