Come along to our Founder Stories Breakfast!

We will be meeting some amazing entrepreneurs who have set up business, charity or social enterprise. Come along and hear why they set up, lessons they have learned and tops tips for anyone starting up!

Speakers:

Dawn Walton, Founder of Think It, Change It - Dawn is a therapist, author and public speaker. Her company, Think it Change it, has been operating since 2010. She sees clients out of Dundee and online using Skype and Facetime, meaning she has clients all over the world, from Australia, to Brazil to all over the UK. She has published 2 books - The Caveman Rules of Survival and Diary of a Teenage Mind Reader and done a TED talk on why we are all screwed up.

Deborah Chapman, Founder of How it Felt - ‘How It Felt’ is a Dundee community-based puppet building, drama, and film making workshop service run by Director Deborah Chapman. Deborah is a graduate of Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design (DJCAD). where the project began at DJCAD as a short puppet film series about depression and anxiety. This led to a larger puppet film based on people who have ADHD and also their families who expressed themselves in, “How do you see ADHD?”

Deborah’s main education is in the arts but she also has experience in her professional and personal life which has driven her passion surrounding mental health issues. Over the last three years she has taken training courses relating to various mental health conditions and care while building up 'How It Felt' as a creative support service. Through the art of puppetry she facilitates workshops and activities to spread awareness and education surrounding mental health. Along with her fuzzy friend 'Little Debz' she provides this art form giving a voice to people of all ages.'

This event is part of the Fire Starter Festival 2019. The Fire Starter Festival is an annual festival highlighting and celebrating innovation and creativity in Scottish public services, with a particular focus on transformational change. The Festival is curated and organised by Scottish Government, with events hosted by a broad range of public sector, third sector and community organisations. In 2019 it will run between 28 January – 8 February.
