Making Community Orchards Resilient in a Changing Climate

Join us for a presentation by Fergus Walker about how to help orchards adapt to our changing climate, including:

Maximising diversity for the greatest health of the orchard

Smoothing climate extreme events

Choosing varieties to suit a warmer, wetter climate

Fergus Walker has been an orchardist with the UK charity The Orchard Project (TOP) since 2017, including coordinating their Certificate in Community Orcharding in Scotland over the last 3 years. He has more than a decade of experience working in community gardening and orchards and has a real interest in how orchards can become part of a resilient commons, as well as a side interest in developing human power machines for food production, notably the Velojuicer pedal powered apple pressing machine. He loves foraging and his favourite fruit is plum.

Each Lunchtime Learning session will highlight expert knowledge and practical insights, with recordings made available to our members after the events.

Our events will be hosted onine, a link will be sent with your booking or accessed via Eventbrite.

These sessions also contribute to our Community Grower Leadership Programme, which asks for leaders to take part in 3 sessions, one from each theme of;
