This open discussion will cover the legacies of British mandate colonialism in Palestine. Both as a colonising power and as military, political and cultural sponsor of settler colonial invasion in Palestine, a glimpse into the modalities of power and repression in the mandate era provide a deeper analysis for the long history of Palestinian resistance in all of its forms. This conversation will pay particular attention to the role of education and cultural heritage, integrating the collections and work of the BZU Museum as we explore the various aspects of this long imperial shadow.

The annual Leila Ingrams Memorial Webinar is held to commemorate the life of a leading campaigner for Palestinian rights in Britain and advocate for British-Arab understanding, and to promote the Doreen and Leila Ingrams Scholarship. The scholarship was established in 2004 to support women students with special educational needs studying at Birzeit University. This event is co-sponsored by Fobzu, the Birzeit Museum and Caabu, of which Leila Ingrams was an active member and Doreen Ingrams, her mother, a co-founder.
