Right now, a wealthy and powerful few are hellbent on undermining the solidarity needed to fight for better wages, good working conditions, vital public services, justice, clean air and water, and equality. To make matters worse, the way we approach the ‘culture war’ just isn’t working.

The project pioneers the use of tried-and-tested messaging to flip the script and build solidarity across race and class to energise our movement while inoculating against the right’s relentless divide-and-rule strategies which undermine progressive coalitions.

Our findings are based on four phases of analytic, qualitative and quantitative research, listening to and understanding diverse working-class people’s experiences and perceptions across the country. A collaboration between CLASS’s director Ellie Mae O’Hagan, researcher Raquel Jesse, Dr Faiza Shaheen, Bec Sanderson and ASO Communications’ Anat Shenker-Osorio, Anthony Vidal Torres and Jillian Marcellus, this event will reveal how our findings tell a new story which weaves together race and class, holding political leaders and elites to account, moving away from our opponents’ divide-and-rule tactics and racial scapegoating and increasing people's willingness to act collectively for a better future.
